It’s Shark Week, one of our favorite weeks during the summer! We decided to kick our Shark Week festivities off with this fun and easy Shark Sensory Bin filled with items that start with the letter S.
What we included:
- Sand-dyed blue rice*
- Seaweed- Green confetti paper (if you don’t have this on hand grass works as well!)
- Starfish & Stingray grow toys, found at Dollar Tree
- a ship
- a shovel
- and of course, a Shark toy!
We played with this sensory bin outside for an easy clean-up. Adrian loved splashing and exploring the different textures while we practiced our “S” sound. Check out the pictures below to see some of the fun.
*We used dyed rice to give the water a blue hint, however it is not necessary. If you would like to dye your rice blue simply fill a zip-lock bag with 1 cup rice, 1 tsp vinegar, and a few drops of blue food coloring. Shake until evenly coated then empty and spread the rice out on a paper towel to dry (takes approx. 2 hours.)

Sensory bins are so fun. When my daughter was younger, I made them for her often, sensory bags too.
My son would love this! He is starting to develop an interest in sharks and sea creatures. It would be an interesting activity! 👍
